Small cars the new Big

In USA Today an article touting the boom in small car sales. The article notes the smallest and cheapest new cars are the bright spot in this currently lousy car market.

The article mentions all new car segments have sold fewer vehicles recently except the small car segment.

The cheapest cars of the group have sales up 27%

The Toyota Yaris sales are up 70%, Honda Fit up 61% and Kia Spectra up 41%.

Car dealers know this is part of a cycle. They know (hope) high gas prices will pass, and when they do, they have found that when somebody upgrades they tend to stay with that same brand.

Buying a new car can be a challenge, especially when times feel uncertain. Making sure you know how much you can spend, and how much to spend is key to keeping your head above water.
